Esperanza Rising Final Assesment!
Develop and adapt active reading skills and strategies
I chose summarize it helped me understand the novel better because we had class discussions and we went over the part that we had just read so if I didn’t understand a part I would say “I don’t understand this line or paragraph” and then someone who did understand would say “ok this is what it means”. The kind of activities we did in class for this strategy is just class discussions. This strategy didn’t really change much but I did kind of stop summarizing towards the end. I didn’t really use predict that much because I don’t really like predicting what is going to happen I just like it to be a surprise and to find out so I haven’t really tried it before but maybe I will try it out next time and see what happens. I chose Esperanza’s view point because it changes a lot throughout the book. She believed when she was rich that the world is always rich and she never knew that there are people who are poor. But when her dad died she saw like the other side of the world. She had to go to a camp because only in those days men could look after the land so her mum couldn’t look after the land her dad had raised, then Tio Louis (Esperanza’s uncle) offered to look after the land but that meant Esperanza’s mum had to marry him and she didn’t want to, he also said to persuade her to get married with him I will give you a wagon and she sneakily she agreed but having a plan in mind. She was going to escape with the wagon and Alfonso, Miguel and Hortensia. So when she got to the camp she didn’t have maids to do everything for her and she actually had to do things for herself. Here is a video to show how she felt.
